Yarn Weights and how to possibly standardize

The yarns that I have access to are sold in skeins in chain craft stores like Hobby Lobby or Micheals here in the US. These yarns have a number yarn weight on the bands that are very standardized.

If you could provide me with pictures of the Australian 8-ply yarn next to a ruler I would be happy to find its weight on this scale. I will also be glad to do the same for the British weights that you mentioned.
