I just bought my first wool yarn and considering the diameter of the yarn, the above instructions are all wrong. The square will be too thick if you use two strands. I re-read the article "Comparing yarn weights, etc" and realized that I missed the comment about 8 ply being the same as sport weight or baby yarn in the US. That is why I could never use 32 stiches and a 6mm needle without getting a 11-12 inch square!

The above article had the Google add cover some of the words. The gauge on the baby 4 ply yarn where 2 yarns are used at the same time is 28 stiches on US 10 knitting needles (6mm)
I spent several hours on Saturday to come up with those gauges and gave the name brand of the yarn to help those in the US that are deciding which yarns to purchase.
