You suggestion is great, we really ought to be able to get someone to contribute both to yarn and a number of postal collections a year. I am going to put up a page soon to try and organise some central collection points.
Also donating yarn is definitely a way to go. Putting up 'spread the word' today with download flyers for you to all use.
But a major philanthropist is what we need. Oprah is very involved in Africa. I will write soon to see what response we get. Anyone else have ideas on this?

HELP WITH POSTAGE by: DIXIE KANAS
WHY CAN'T WE GET HELP WITH POSTAGE. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO TRY AND GET OPRAH TO SEND THEM FOR US? SHE DOES A LOT FOT THE CHILDREN IN AFRICA. I HAVE TONS OF YARN COLLECTED OVER THE YEARS IN MY BASEMENT. LIKE NINE BIG PLASTIC TUBS FULL. I COULD MAKE HUMDREDS OF SQUARES.. PLUS I WOULD ASK FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND PUT FLYERS UP IN THE TWO YARN SHOPS I GO TO. THIS WHIP UP SO FAST THAT MY SENDING THREE AT A TIME WILL BE A SHAME.
MY YARNS ARE MOSTLY ACRYLIC WHICH I WILL USE TWO STRANDS OF YARN OR BUY SOME WOOL AND MIX IT.
IF WE COULD JUST SEND THESE TO SOMEONE IN THE STATES AND THEY WOULD SEND THEM FROM THERE. ANY IDEAS?
