The 'Magic' of knitting

I recently spent most of a weekend playing a Magic: The Gathering tournament. Most of my matches finished a good 15 or 20 minutes before the round ended, so what do you think I did? Picked up my needles and knit, of course! I was working on a colorful pair of socks that will forever be known as my 'magic' socks. I wish I had a picture of me, one of the few female players of a game dominated by nerdy guys, knitting in the midst of hundreds of tables and thousands of people.

Next tournament I will be bringing my Knit-a-square squares with me. I've set aside some of my handspun merino just for them, and I will make sure someone snaps a photo! Maybe I can even get my boyfriend knitting between games, and hopefully we can spread the word about Knit-a-square while we're at it.

I once did cross stitch all the way through a Magic tournament. It really turned some heads. I think it really freaked some people out!
