***Super Easy Square Pattern! ***

by Allisyn Andria Li
(San Francisco, California, United States of America)

*This is a pretty pattern knit from corner to corner, giving a nice look and texture with holes along the edges to make it easier to sew it to other squares in the blanket.
It does not matter what yarn of needles you use, but it helps if the yarn is warm and the finished product is reasonably thick.

PATTERN:

Cast on 4 st.

Row 1: knit into front and back of 1st stitch, knit to end. (5 st)

Repeat Row 1 for TWO MORE TIMES. You should have just finished Row 3. (7 st)

Row 4: Knit 2 stitches, knit into the front and back of next stitch, yarnover, knit to end. (9 st)

Row 5: Knit 3 stitches, yarnover, knit to end.
(10 st)

Repeat Row 5 until the length "yarnovers" (this is going to be the edge of the square when it is finished) is 8 inches.

Next row: Knit 2 stitches, knit 2 stitches together, yarnover, knit 2 stitches together, knit to end.

Repeat until you only have 9 stitches on your needle. The almost-finished work should look like a diamond.

Next Row: Knit 2 stitches together, knit 2 stitches together, knit next stitch, knit 2 stitches together, knit 2 stitches together. (5 stitches)

Cast off all stitches. Leave a looooong tail for sewing to other squares. Not necessary, but thoughtful.

END OF PATTERN

*You now have a diamond, but turn it 45 degrees and... You have a SQUARE!! Now mail this in and help keep an AIDS orphan warm.*
