please create this chart, I am totally confused

I have knitted for many years. I live in UK and our Double Knitting wool (acrylic) makes a 5 1/2 inch square on 4mm needles 32 stitches on the needle. Some other cheaper acrylic makes a 6 inch square on 4 mm needles 32sts cast on.
Do you suggest using the Double Knitting wool with 2 strands to make it thicker? Or do you suggest we use Aran wool? I have lots of wool and lots of time, I just need some guidance. Doreen

Hi

I used double knit - size 4 mm (8) needles.

Cast on 44 stitches - garter stitch for 76 rows.

Cast off.

This made an eight inch square.
