Wool Blends Vs Wool
by: Valerie

After reading about the fire retardant qualities of wool and the fact that these children have campfires for heat, I felt compelled to find wool or wool blend yarn. 100% wool is hard to find in the US and is expensive. The Wool Blends only have 20% wool. That does not seem like enough to make it fire retardant. Anybody know about that?

I am going to try the yard sales and thrift shop ideas. Everyone I know uses acrylics because the colors are brighter, the textures are more varied, no one is allergic to acrylic and it doesn't shrink in the washing machine! However, if it melts when it gets close to heat, that is not good for the children.
