Marylin's Favourite Beanie

Materials: Worsted (Aran weight) wool.
Main colour (MC) Colours 1 & 2 (CC1, CC2.
Marker or loop of yarn.
Needle for weaving in ends.

Gauge: 20 sts and 28 rows = 4 inches on 4.5mm circular needle 40cm long)

Method:
Cast on 72 stitches onto a circular needle.
Be careful not to twist stitches, place a marker, join kitting and work in K2, P1 ribbing for 10 rounds.
Round 11: knit increasing 9 stitches in the round so there are now 81 sts. (I increased every 8th stitch)

Knit 10 rounds of MC
Knit 2 Rounds CC1
Knit 2 rounds MC
Knit 2 rounds CC2
knit 2 Rounds MC
Knit 2 Rounds CC1
Knit 10 rounds MC

Decrease as follows:
Round 1: *Knit 7, K2tog, rep from *
Round 2: *Knit 6, K2tog, rep from *
Round 3: *Knit 5, K2tog, rep from *
NOTE: At this point change to double pointed needles.
Round 4: *Knit 4, K2tog, rep from *
Round 5: *Knit 3, K2tog, rep from *
Round 6: *Knit 2, K2tog, rep from *
Round 7: *knit 1, K2tog, rep from *
Round 8: K2tog to end of round, 9 sts remain, knit 1 round even, cut end thread through stitches pull through do-nut hole, secure and weave in ends.
