Crochet and knitted hat patterns to keep the children's heads warm too
These free crochet and knitted hat patterns are simple and easy to make. While the children sleep at night, snugly in their blankets, their little heads will be cold. As Nancy from New York wrote: up to 30 percent of the body's heat is lost through the head. And when they wake up on bitterly cold and frosty mornings, just having their heads covered in a warm knitted or crochet hat will help make a difference to the energy they must bring to surviving. Like all children around the world, these children will love to have something they can call their own. Their blankets will be treasured, but so too will their hats. Use any of your scraps to make a colorful warm, but soft, crochet hat or knitted hat that an AIDS orphan or abandoned child will count highly among their few precious possessions.
This knitted hat pattern uses bulky yarn, but you can create the same effect using two strands of worsted or double knit yarn. And for the crochet hat, click here to
