Support knit-a-square's charity projects

Support knit-a-square's crochet and knitting for charity project. We are making a difference in the lives of many hundreds of abandoned babies and orphaned children because of your efforts.

AIDS orphan Your generous and uplifting response to the knit-a-square goal to keep these children warm, both recognises the accessibility of our crochet and knitting project and the fact that every stitch makes a difference.

From eight to eighty, you have taken up needles, hooks and yarn in the cause.

Your crochet and knitting gifts warm the children and send them a message that they are cared for from afar.

8 July, 2009 - this little girl was outside Little Zeverfontein Creche, Johannesburg. It was 12°C (53°F ) at midday and 4°C (39°F) that night.

This little girl, with her warm hat, is one of many hundreds of children now snugly wrapped in a blanket made by squares sent by you and joined by the volunteers of Soweto Comfort Club.

knitting for charity

We are currently manned entirely by volunteers with no funding from any quarter. We need your help to build on this fellowship and to ensure that we knit and crochet together into the future for the benefit of our orphaned children and babies As a children's charity, knit-a-square has two goals:

1. To make these children warm

2. To raise awareness of this mostly hidden tragedy

You can donate here through PAYPAL and by doing so you make it possible for us all to keep striving toward these goals. Not only to make abandoned babies and orphaned children warm, but to bring the plight of the children to the attention of whoever you tell or ask to join with you in our crochet and knitting project.

Your donations will also help toward refunding Ronda for customs duties paid, and in time make it possible to extend our help to micro projects such as replacing the inadequate toilet facilities at Zeverfontein Creche.

Thank you for your generosity, care, concern and for the crochet and knitting gifts you send to the children.

Please subscribe to Square Circle ezine for stories of your generosity, the children and their blankets.

You can also spread the word about knit-a-square and its goals using the brochures, posters, press release and other ideas featured on the spread the word page. Thank you.

You can also support knit-a-square by purchasing Heritage Blanket, a knitting pattern book which guides you, step by step to make a magnificent 96 block heirloom blanket.
